Job Description

This senior, pivotal role is responsible for leading the successful implementation of all US Outsourced Solutions (OS) projects from recruitment, through the Talent Acquisition (TA) team, to onboarding and operational effectiveness via the Field and/or Virtual Medical Managers (Medical Management).

The Sr. Director of US Medical Solutions plays a key role in shaping and leading business strategy, collaborating with colleagues in other parts of Amplity Health and championing our culture and values. Ensuring that processes and ways of working within US Medical Management are efficient, effective and make good use of tools, models and technology within Amplity Health, is also a key part of the position.

With clients, it is expected that in this role, you engage in broad discussion and exploration on all aspects of existing clients’ needs, with the ability to involve Field Leaders, Business Development, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Consultants to ensure we provide the best service possible. 

The VP, NA Medical Solutions will liaise closely with this role to ensure the quality of our recruitment, onboarding and on-going management of OS teams sets a new standard for the industry, inspires talented individuals to want to join the company and is consistent with the overall Amplity Health vision.

This role will also work closely with the International Field Management team to ensure best practice is shared and a common manager’s capability development curriculum is implemented.

Key accountabilities:

Clients – External/Internal

  • Create and manage good relationships with key accounts with OS teams in place
  • Work closely with Business Development on new OS business opportunities to plan for the implementation stage and ensure Medical Manager resource is in place (or recruited) as early as possible
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders in Project Management, Talent Acquisition, Medical Managers and OS teams to ensure project fulfilment processes and activities are aligned e.g. onboardings, assessment centers
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with relevant stakeholders in client organization, referring business opportunities and insights to Business Development
  • Encourage collaboration and innovation within Amplity Health to create exciting client solutions
  • Role model Amplity Health values and represent our brand, demonstrating sound judgment and integrity in all aspects of the role
  • Stay up to date on the industry and trends developing within clients
  • Use industry knowledge and news to share with Business Development for potential new opportunities
  • Assist as needed with wide team on ad-hoc duties as required and as appropriate to the role
  • Collaborate and meet regularly with colleagues and client as appropriate
  • Share best practice and feedback to drive improved business performance internally
  • Help to shape and lead strategy, and be the ‘voice for the medical teams’ within the US Medical Solutions business

People

  • Coach, manage and lead the Medical Managers (Field or Virtual) to create a high performing culture that drives successful business implementations and sets and industry standard in terms of quality
  • Support the process of recruiting and interviewing potential Medical Managers as part of the implementation of a new team
  • Direct and support the onboarding of new managers and their on-going professional development, especially their ability to coach field–based/remote teams in core skills e.g. scientific engagement and presentation skills
  • Communicate the Medical Management model and strategy across the business and engage others to provide the necessary support throughout the implementation phase
  • Recognize, reward and encourage individual achievements whilst maintaining a cohesive and collaborative team culture
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Human Resources to support Field Managers to manage any performance or employee relations issues within OS teams, take a strategic and proactive approach to create solutions before any concerns become significant challenges
  • Understand co-employment laws and liaise closely with Human Resources to mitigate any risks
  • Plan, oversee and facilitate induction and onboarding for new starters in collaboration with relevant departments internal and external
  • Set expectations with team around performance, providing clear goals and direction and managing/removing any barriers to success, clarify appropriate communication routes
  • Identify training needs and work with internal departments to create interventions utilizing Amplity Health’s platforms
  • Motivate, retain and develop team to progress towards an aligned vision and goal

Processes

  • Provide reports as required by VP NA Medical Solutions or other Leaders in the organization
  • Approve absence requests in accordance with company guidelines
  • Manage all employees in accordance with Company policies and standards e.g. absence, disciplinary, performance etc.
  • Aid in the creation of KPIs and measures to enable OS teams to perform at a high level for clients and to create standards for Amplity
  • Monitor individual and team performance against KPIs, collate insights and prepare any reports that add genuine value to strategy
  • Respond to queries and questions related to team in a timely and supportive way
  • Share relevant Amplity Health and client procedures and processes to ensure team operate within a compliant framework and in accordance with legal requirements
  • Conduct regular team 1:1s, working with Human Resources on any appropriate interventions, development or issues that arise
  • Work closely with wider team and business to ensure key information and feedback is shared in order to improve future proposals and client offerings
  • Develop and implement appropriate processes to ensure operational effectiveness of team

Financials

  • Always negotiate any Medical Manager offers in line with budget prepared and where these exceed outlined budget, liaise with Finance to gain approval
  • Ensure self and team operate within any financial budgets allocated
  • Approve all travel and expenses incurred by team in accordance with company policies and within agreed timelines
  • Provide input into any financial planning and control procedures as required
  • Ensure team has access to and understand how to use financial systems
  • Always operate in a cost-efficient manner
  • Assist with any forecasting and financial data that Amplity Leadership may require
  • Demonstrate ROI with all activity where possible
  • Assist as needed with wide team on ad-hoc duties as required and as appropriate to the role

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Advanced medical or scientific degree preferred (PharmD, PhD, MSN or equivalent)
  • Demonstrable experience of people management ideally 2+ years
  • Proven ability to lead a successful field-based team
  • Pharmaceutical industry or relevant healthcare knowledge highly desired (minimum 5 years)
  • Knowledge of Medical Affairs highly desired
  • Knowledge of recruitment of outsourced teams desirable
  • Knowledge of OS/Contracted field business desirable
  • Demonstrable experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages
  • Solution driven with the ability to work collaboratively
  • Exceptional customer focus
  • Exceptional listening skills to fully understand client requirements and needs, with the ability present workable solutions

Other requirements

  • Ability to travel US/Globally (as required, estimated 50%)
  • Valid US Driver’s License essential
